English Placement Assessment (Mandatory)

MICROSOFT Suite Equivalency Assessment (Optional)

If you have not yet registered to take your English Assessment, do so as soon as possible.

This assessment is mandatory to access the English course as well as your coop placements in your program curriculum

This assessment is done online using the Teams Application. It takes roughly 1 hour and consists of 1 component: an essay between 300 to 600 words.

No corrector software, dictionaries or language guides are permitted.

Collège Boréal implemented this language competency process to ensure that all students have the required competencies to succeed in their courses, work placements and future jobs.

The MICROSOFT Suite Equivalency Assessment is optional and takes roughly 2 hours to complete. It consists of 4 modules: computer functions, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. During the evaluation you are permitted to use the Microsoft software as well as conduct research on the Internet.

How do I know if I need to write this assessment?

If your program is in the list below, it is recommended that you take the assessment to possibly be exempted from the INF1078 course that is in your program curriculum

Requirements to complete the English Placement Assessment (mandatory) and the Microsoft Suite Equivalency Assessment (optional)

• Your Student Number
• A computer or laptop (No Smartphone, Chromebooks, or tablets)
• Camera on your computer
• Headset (Optional but recommended)
• High Speed Internet Connexion
• Teams’ application
• A quiet workspace clear of any type of paper, dictionaries or other learning materials not permitted during the test. During the test you will not be permitted to interact with anyone but your online test supervisor
• I.D with photo (such as a Driver’s licence, passport, Collège Boréal student card)
