This program is funded by the Government of Ontario.

Apprenticeship programs are appropriate for anyone who wishes to improve his or her professional qualifications profile and who is sponsored by an employer or can find an employer that is willing to provide sponsorship.

Most of the training (80 to 90%) is provided in a workplace where the apprentice has the opportunity to master skills related to his or her trade under the supervision of qualified personnel. The theoretical component of the training is generally provided by a community college in classrooms or through distance education.

A potential employer must contact a counselor in a MTCU apprenticeship office to register an apprentice. To obtain a list of counselors in your region, please visit http://www.findhelp.ca/mtcu/appoff_fr.html, and to obtain general information, please refer to the Ministry website at www.edu.gov.on.ca.

How to register:

• Find a sponsor (usually your employer) who has agreed to provide you with apprenticeship training in your chosen trade.
• The sponsor must contact your local  Employment Ontario apprenticeship office (http://services.findhelp.ca/eo/tcu/appoff).

Online Courses

These courses are entirely given on the Internet. Once a student is officially registered, he receives an internet link to access his courses.

Self-directed Courses

In these courses, the student learns independently, without pedagogical support.

Videoconference Courses

This type of course is offered to students in remote locations, allowing them to follow courses that would otherwise not be available in their region.

Contact North

Contact North is an education and distance training network that offers services throughout Ontario. Courses are given in real time allowing students and teachers to communicate by audioconference, video conference, and Internet exchanges. Students attend the courses by either going to an Access Centre in the community or by using a home computer.

This program consisting of ten courses provides solid theoretical and practical training in French as a second language which allows the student to acquire the interaction skills necessary for their professional development. Our approach is based on communicative and experiential teaching and learning methods which rely on and can directly be applied to the realities of everyday life.

This program is designed to meet the needs of beginners as well as the advanced students. Courses are delivered according to specific learning outcomes for each training level, ensuring a continuous learning process while focusing on participants’ communication needs, learning styles, past knowledge, interests and abilities. Throughout the program, students will learn the grammatical structures as well as the vocabulary required for their professional and personal activities. They will also be introduced to French culture and francophone communities. After successful completion of the program, students will be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written French.
