Training for Immigrants
Collège Boréal offers a vast range of educational options to facilitate the integration of newcomers to Canada. This training is available in Hamilton, London, Niagara (Thorold), Mississauga (Toronto), and Windsor. The aim of these free services is to smooth the way toward the job market for immigrants.
Following is an overview of the available programming
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada - LINC
• Day or night classes
• Continuous registration
• FREE
• Childminding Centre available
• Learning support technologist available for students who need additional help
Eligibility: must be a permanent resident /landed immigrant or convention refugee and must be aged 18 or over
Our LINC program “English as a Work Language level 1 to 7” will help you to:

develop a better understanding and mastery of English;

improve your basic English Skills (conversation, reading, writing);

improve your pronunciation and speech rate;
-
learn terms that suit your needs and the realities of the Canadian job market;
-
develop more ease in communications with your employer, colleagues, clients;
-
understand the workings and requirements of the Canadian job market;
-
benefit from the on-line Vubiz classes that will help you improve your job-search skills and prepare you for interviews.
Enhanced Language Training – ELT
Our ELT program is the ideal complement to our LINC programs and the surest way to a well-paying job:
- advanced class in English working language, allowing students to improve their everyday English and the language spoken in the work place
- complete upgrade in new information and communication technologies, Office 2003, Office 2007, Windows XP Professional and Vista
- five-week internship with a company, under the supervision of the employer or a mentor, allowing the student to acquire skills and experience in a Canadian work environment
- more rapidintegration into the Canadian job market and possibility of a well-paying job
- personal follow-up for several weeks after completion of training
Facilitate your integration into a predominantly English work environment
This program is designed for francophone immigrants who are working or looking for a job and who satisfy the admission criteria:

to be aged 18 or over;

to be a permanent resident or a landed immigrant;
Free registration.
This program is financed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. There is also possibility of financial assistance for child care and transportation.

Our English training program is the customized solution for immigrants who are francophone professionals trained abroad and who wish to work in their field of expertise – engineering, financial services, computer sciences, accounting, health and more.
Collège Boréal, a recognized specialist in postsecondary training, provides, under one roof, the support and tools necessary to obtain and maintain employment in your professional field.
The five keys of your employability:
1. English work language courses allow you to acquire the vocabulary specific to your profession.
2. Understanding of the requirements of the Canadian job market, identification of skills, qualities, and capacities sought by the job market.
3. Support during the professional accreditation recognition process.
4. Four-week internship leading to Canadian work experience in your field of expertise.
5. Personalized training to assist in the job search and in the preparation of a letter of introduction and curriculum vitae. Familiarization with the interview process and techniques and with the resources and effective strategies in the job search process.
