Description:

This program trains future leaders who will help contribute to the improvement of peoples’ physical fitness and well-being.

With the acquisition of interpersonal and communication skills, the student is able to evaluate the physical condition, well-being, and lifestyle of clients; to interpret results; and to work with clients to help them make positive lifestyle changes.   

With the eventual aim of training individuals or groups and offering them health and fitness advice, the student learns to develop, implement, and evaluate activities and programs that meet the needs of a diverse client base.

Admission requirements:

  • Ontario high school diploma or its equivalent from another province, or mature student status
  • 2 French credits (at least 1 mandatory group course): grade 11 or 12, pre-college or pre-university
  • 1 English credit: grade 11 or 12, pre-college or pre-university

 

Other requirements:

  • Standard first aid certificate (before November 24, 2010)*
  • First aid certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR - (before November 24, 2010)*
  • Criminal record check before the start of semester 3

*First aid and CPR courses are offered several times throughout the college session by the Adult and Continuing Education Service of Collège Boréal.

Possibility of a bachelor’s degree specialized in physical education:

Graduates of this program can continue their studies at the university level and receive credit transfers for their college studies. Collège Boréal has an agreement to this effect with Laurentian University, among others.

  • It is essential to be able to communicate orally and in writing in both French and English during clinical internships.
