Description:

This program trains students to work with children and adolescents who are socially and emotionally maladjusted;  to support the educational efforts of parents; and to act as counsellors to facilitate better understanding between the different individuals concerned. This three-year program covers various learning experiences: theory, internships, workshops, role-playing, group sessions, lab courses, classroom presentations and visits to response centres for children, teenagers, and their families.

Admission requirements:

  • Ontario high school diploma or its equivalent in another province, or mature student status
  • 2 French credits (at least 1 mandatory group course): grade 11 or 12, pre-college or pre-university

  • Criminal record check
  • Current immunizations (including 2-stage tuberculin test  and vaccination against hepatitis B)

Candidate profile:

Program applicants must be good with children, able to work as part of a team, highly sensitive and have an objective understanding of self. They should be dynamic, enthusiastic, honest, patient, tolerant, love the outdoors, respectful and authentic.

 

Possibility of a bachelor’s degree or other title:

Many universities recognize the postsecondary credits of Collège Boréal. Each university has its own admission criteria. After your college studies, the university of your choice will evaluate your credits in order to establish appropriate equivalence.
