Boréal’s Medical Diagnostic Ultrasonography program receives six-year accreditation status

Collège Boréal is proud to announce the six-year accreditation status of its Medical Diagnostic Ultrasonography program by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).

Health programs receive CMA accreditation only when they meet national standards. This ensures that students acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to function as competent health practitioners.

There are several components to the lengthy accreditation process, including the application, a program self-assessment report, the document review, and an on-site program visit. The CMA accords six-year accreditation status to programs that comply with all five requirements.

Boréal’s Medical Diagnostic Ultrasonography is a 16-month graduate program comprised of eight-month in-class learning at Boréal’s Sudbury campus and an eight-month practicum. Boréal is the only college in Ontario to offer the program in French. Program graduates must pass a Sonography Canada certification examination to become registered to practise in Canada. Registered sonographers can work as generalists or specialize in cardiac, cerebral, musculoskeletal, vascular, or breast sonography.
